Senator James David Cain to Discuss Donelon’s Flip-Flop

Time:                12:05 pm
Location:          Impastato's Restaurant - 3400 16th Street, Metairie

(New Orleans – LA) Today at 12:05 pm, James David Cain will address the New Orleans Chapter of the Professional Insurance Agents of Louisiana. During his speech Senator Cain will discuss yesterday’s policy change by the current commissioner.

Excerpt from speech:

Jim Donelon has once again showed a remarkable lack of common sense and leadership.

This is exactly the wrong way to run the Department of Insurance.

The current commissioner’s lack of consistency is driving away insurance companies and causing rates to rise.

During the legislative session, just a few weeks ago, he refused to testify and/or to support a bill that would have required the prescription period to be extended from one year to two. Now he holds a press conference and threatens to revoke the license of any company that won’t extend their prescription period for another year.

He has just told every insurance company that does business in Louisiana that if they follow the current law they run the risk of having their license revoked.

I can’t imagine a worse time to send such a mixed message. We need all the insurance companies we can get to come to this state.

Neither the consumers nor the insurance companies can count on the current commissioner to do the right thing.

Unfortunately, this is just one more example of Donelon saying one thing and doing another.
